  5. 0.  What is new in this release
  6.  
  7.      This is the first OPTi 82c930 audio driver release for Windows NT version 
  8.      3.51. This Windows NT driver provides the following support for OPTi 
  9.      82c930 based sound card:
  10.         Wave playback/capture
  11.         Midi playback
  12.         Mic recording
  13.         Volume control      
  14.         Driver installation/configuration
  15.         IDE CD-ROM support

  18. 1.  SOFTWARE PACKAGE CONTENTS
  19.  
  20.      The OPTi 82c930 Windows NT Audio Driver installation package contains 
  21.      the following files:
  22.  
  23.           - OEMSETUP.INF - Windows NT driver installation text file 
  24.           - SND930.DLL   - Windows NT user mode driver for OPTi 82c930.
  25.           - SND930.SYS   - Windows NT kernel mode driver for OPTi 82c930.
  26.           - SNDINIT.SYS  - Windows NT kernel mode driver for setting OPTi 
  27.                            82c930 on-board IDE CD-ROM interface.
  28.           - README.NT    - This help file.

  31. 2.  INSTALLATION PROCESS
  32.  
  33.      The installation process assumes that Windows NT v3.51 has been installed.
  34.      Refer to documents for Windows NT installation. 
  35.    
  36.      Step 1:   
  37.         Insert OPTi 82c930 sound card in the system. Refer to your menu for
  38.         proper sound card hardware installation.
  39.  
  40.      Step 2:           
  41.         Logged on Windows NT in Administrator mode. Windows NT audio 
  42.         driver can't be installed or modified unless Windows NT is started 
  43.         in Adminstrator mode.
  44.         
  45.      Step 3:
  46.         Choose the Drivers icon in the Control Panel Window.
  47.         Remove all of the following previously installed audio drivers:
  48.                 Windows Sound System
  49.                 OPTi 82c930
  50.         Restart system.

  52.      Step 4:
  53.         Start Windows NT in Administrator mode. 
  54.         Choose the Drivers icon in the Control Panel Window.
  55.         Choose the Add button in the Drivers dialog box.
  56.         Select "Unlisted or Updated Driver" and choose the OK button.
  57.         Insert the OPTi 82c930 Windows NT installation diskette in floppy 
  58.         drive and choose the OK button.

  60.      Step 5:
  61.         A setup dialog box will appear.
  62.  
  63.         Select the I/O address, Interrupt, and DMA for OPTi 82c930.
  64.         Choose the CD-ROM Interface Settings for selecting whether to enable
  65.         or disable the on-board IDE CD-ROM interface.
  66.         Choose the OK button when you finish selecting the settings.

  68.      Step 6:   
  69.         Choose the Restart Now button to have the new driver and any changed
  70.         driver settings to take effect when Windows NT restart.

  73. 3. CHANGING DRIVER SETTINGS AFTER INSTALLATION
  74.      
  75.      Driver settings can be changed after installation.

  77.      Step 1:   
  78.         Logged on Windows NT in Administrator mode.

  81.         Choose the Drivers icon in the Control Panel Window.
  82.         Select OPTi 82c930 in Installed Drivers Dialog box.
  83.         Choose Setup button.

  85.      Follows Step 5 and 6 of INSTALLATION PROCESS above.

  88. 4. INSTALLATION DETAILS
  89.  
  90.      The Windows NT driver installation does the following:
  91.  
  92.      - Copy files to your hard disk. 
  93.         SND930.SYS, SND930.DLL, SNDINIT.SYS and README.NT are 
  94.         copied to the NT system directories.
  95.      - Create/Update configuration information in the registry
  96.         The following two Keys are created in the registry under 
  97.         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services path:
  98.                 snd930
  99.                 sndinit
  100.      - Reboot system.

  102. 5. CD-ROM INSTALLATION NOTES
  103.      
  104.      The CD-ROM Interface Settings in driver setup provides the choice of 
  105.      enable or disable the 82c930 on board IDE CD-ROM interface (Default to
  106.      disabled).  It DOESN'T install the NT IDE CD-ROM driver. 
  107.      It's your responsibility to install the NT IDE-CD ROM driver.   
  108.         
  109.      To install an IDE CD-ROM drive that is connected to 82c930:
  110.  
  111.      - Make sure there is no secondary IDE port that is enabled on 
  112.        your system motherboard or another add-on card.
  113.      - Choose "Enable IDE CD-ROM Interface" check box. This instructs the 
  114.        kernel mode driver sndinit.sys to enable the 82c930 on board
  115.        secondary IDE port 170h and IRQ15 upon NT boot time.
  116.      - To install the Windows NT IDE CD-ROM driver (ATAPI.SYS), please refer
  117.        to the Windows NT System Guide.
